Kaitlyn + Tate | Backyard Wedding at Bride's Childhood Home
It was POURING on my drive up to Cartersville for Kaitlyn + Tate’s wedding. I thought to myself, “Could this be it? My FIRST rainy wedding in three years as a wedding photographer?!” But just as I was pulling up to Kaitlyn’s parents’ home, the site of her and fiancé Tate’s pending nuptials, the rain stopped!
There’s something extra special about shooting a wedding at an untraditional “venue”. For Kaitlyn, she always knew she wanted to get married on her mom and dad’s property - her childhood home which she shared with her three older brothers and lovely parents. But something I didn’t realized until the wedding day was that Kaitlyn’s dad actually built the pavilion used for their reception just for his baby girl’s big day. I mean, how precious is that?! Father of the Bride GOALS.
Some of my favorite moments from the day: Kaitlyn’s first look with her three older brothers (I was a puddle!), followed by an even more emotional first look with Kaitlyn and her dad (plus mom and grandma watching from afar - I weep!), the vintage Bronco and Chevy cars which Kaitlyn and Tate had their choice of for getaway car, and a special reception dance shared between Kaitlyn and her great grandfather that I won’t soon forget.
Thanks for having me, Kaitlyn + Tate!
